Some cool Facts about Sugaring you should know!

About our Hybrid Technique

Sugarwaxed uses Nature’s Sugar Squeeze & Strip method. The sugar paste is in a squeeze bottle and we drizzle on to your skin. Pair it with a spatula and cotton strips, it will be an easy, mess-free hair removal session. While sugar pastes sold in jars are for those who prefer the hand “spread & flick” technique.

Nature’s Sugar Squeeze & Strip Sugar Waxing is less painful than conventional waxing and will lead to finer and less visible hair.

Our secret formulation has zero wax resin and it is made only with sugar, lemon and water. Thus it is 100% water soluble, organic and gentle to the skin. No irritations, burns or bumps. Only smooth hair-free skin for both women and men.

Absolutely not! Sugar waxing is a much cleaner process than conventional waxing. We are Mess-Free because our sugar paste is made of all-natural ingredients and wipes off easily with a damp cloth.

About your Hair

Your hair should be between 3 and 5mm in length if you are new to sugar waxing. Once practised/ in a regular cycle you can sugar wax hair even shorter than 2mm.

It is possible to become permanently hairless if being sugar wax correctly and regularly. How long this will take depends on several factors. As every human being is an individual there are individual hair types and growth pattern. It could be the case that you have hairless patches already after a few treatments whereas others may need many more. Hormones and many other factors can influence hair growth. Depending on the body area the number of treatments leading to permanency will vary.

Generally, after sugar waxed, it can last between 4-6 weeks. Depending on the level of hair growth and how regular you sugar waxed. This varies from one person to another and is also depending on the body area. Hair growth will not necessarily be equally distributed and hair grows at different rates.

Other factors play a role in hair growth as well, for example, your genetics, your hormones and your lifestyle. However, repeated sugar wax treatments ever weaken the hair system so re-growth gets sparser with time and can even lead to permanency.

Properly extracting hair does not make it grow back thicker or darker. A hair that becomes darker and heavier – as seen on women’s facial hair generally in the upper lip and chin area, is predetermined to do so or has been prompted to change into a terminal hair by one of several factors such as, but not limited to, hormones.

About your Skin

Yes. It is safe for all skin types. All pigments and types of hair can be sugar waxed. Our sugar paste is formulated to be gentle on the skin.

Yes! Because our sugar paste is 100% natural and safe, it is especially good for sensitive skin or problemantic skin.

Your skin will be more sensitive after sugar wax treatment as the hair follicle openings being more vulnerable to infections. Please keep this in mind the following days and avoid any extra irritation and risk.

Medical experts recommend waiting for 24-48 hours after any type of bikini line hair removal. During this time period your body can be most susceptible to outside bacteria, which can potentially cause an infection. For your safety and health, it is better to abstain and your skin will thank you for getting some time to recover.

For the Mommies

Our sugar paste is 100% natural so, sure you can. As long as you’re past your first trimester in a healthy pregnancy, sugar waxing is safe but just note that you may be more sensitive than usual. Sugarwaxed caters to many pregnant clients but one non-negotiable requirement is that you check with your gynaecologist before your session, so please do so before requesting an appointment.

Remember to mention your pregnancy when you book in so we can better prepare your treatment. By making an appointment, Sugarwaxed will consider that you’ve taken note of all the necessary requirements and precautions.

We generally recommend waiting 1 to 3 months (natural) or 3 to 6 months (caesarean) after giving birth before popping in for a session. It is, however, entirely dependent on the method of childbirth and on your and your gynaecologist’s opinions. In most cases, once Mothers are up for it and have their doctor’s approval (written for <1 month post-natural and <3 months post-caesarean), they’re welcome to book in. General

We’d recommend that you consult your physician before making an appointment if you’re under any medication. Certain ingredients can alter your skin’s condition, making it more susceptible to tearing and irritation, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

As these topical products can make skin more susceptible to tearing and irritation, we refrain from sugar waxing treated areas and ask that you wait at least three months after discontinuation before having them sugar wax.

Unfortunately, we don’t perform any sugar waxing services for clients on accutane or similar medication. Because their ingredients are known to cause drying and thinning of the skin, there is a high risk of permanent skin damage associated with epilation. We strongly advise that you wait 3 to 6 months after discontinuation Accutane before getting sugar waxed. We would highly recommend a patch test before proceeding.
